MAITEX – INDÚSTRIA TÊXTIL, S.A. was founded in 1964, by Mr. Amadeu Costa, the father of the current shareholders and directors of the company. Its headquarters were built in the village of Parada, Águas Santas, Maia, providing finishing and textile dyeing services.

In 1979/1980, with a policy of expansion, another plant was built in Agra, Milheirós, Maia, which, together with the former, forms an industrial complex. In addition to the aforementioned activities, MAITEX began to produce polyester nonwovens, felts and carpets.

Always with the expectation of improving its competitiveness, the company abandoned, in 1989, the production of carpets, in order to install a weaving machine designed for the production of synthetic fabrics of advanced technology.

Since 2005, MAITEX is exclusively dedicated to the design, development, and production of polyester waddings and felts.

Aiming for continuous improvement, the focus on the diversification of MAITEX’s products was a key factor in the success and consolidation of the market, through the supplying of products for various industrial activities, namely childcare, apparel, home textiles, beddings, and upholstery.

MAITEX has prioritized sustainably in its growth, having been concerned with the increase of its responsiveness to its customers, enabling it to enhance its competitiveness, and optimizing its productive resources.
